old fashioned fudge

Combine in saucepan:
2 cups sugar
2/3 cups milk
2 squares unsweetened chocolate or 1/3 cup cocoa
2 TBS light corn syrup
¼ tsp salt
Stir over low heat until chocolate melts and sugar dissolves. Cook to 234 (soft ball). Stir occasionally. Remove from heat.
Add:
2 TBS butter
Cool to lukewarm without stirring.
Add:
1 tsp vanilla
Beat until thick and no longer glossy.
Quickly stir in:
½ cup nuts
Turn into buttered pan. Cut when set.
